25th RSRDH winners bared
Capiz State University, Iloilo State College of Fisheries and Central Philippine University emerged as the top winners during the 25th Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights (RSRDH) held last October 29, 2015 at Lopez Jaena Hall, West Visayas State University in Lapaz, Iloilo City.
About 57 faculty and staff researchers from WESVAARRDEC's consortium member institutions gathered to participate in the activity which is held every year to foster research productivity and friendly competition among the member agencies. The theme for this year's symposium is "Western Visayas: Innovating for Global Competitiveness." A total of 34 research entries comprising natural/biological, social science and developmental/technological categories were presented during parallel sessions at the audiovisual rooms and readers services section of the University library.
Capiz State University's entry "Immunostimulatory Effects of Probiotics Against Aeromonas hydrophilia Infection in Tilapia" by Stephanie S. Pimentel and Kristel E. Corpuz was adjudged as the best paper in the natural/biological science category. Meanwhile, ISCOF's entry "The Economics of Using Biodegradable Wastes in Vermicomposting" authored by Myrna P. Prudente bagged the best paper award in the social science category.
Central Philippine University bested all other entries in the technological/developmental research category with their paper "Development of Supplemental Feeds for Free-Range Native Chicken."
